Privacy Policy

1. Introduction

Bloom Accounting Services Inc.  (“we,” “us,” or “our”) is committed to protecting the privacy and confidentiality of personal information entrusted to us. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, disclose, store, and safeguard personal information in the course of providing professional accounting services, including bookkeeping, payroll, advisory services, corporate tax (T2) return preparation, and compilations

We comply with the Personal Information Protection Act (British Columbia) (PIPA) and the confidentiality requirements of the CPA Code of Professional Conduct.

We have designated a Privacy Officer who is responsible for our compliance with applicable privacy legislation and this Privacy Policy.

3. Personal Information We Collect

We collect only the personal information necessary to provide professional services and operate our business. This may include:

a) Client and Individual Information

  • Name, address, email address, phone number

  • Date of birth and identification information

  • Social Insurance Number (SIN), business numbers, and CRA account details

b) Financial and Business Information

  • Banking and payment information

  • Payroll records and employee information

  • Accounting records, financial statements, and supporting documentation

  • Corporate records required for T2 tax return preparation

c) Communication and Technical Information

  • Email and SMS communications

  • IP addresses or device information for security and system integrity purposes


4. How We Use Personal Information

We use personal information only for identified and reasonable purposes, including:

  • Providing bookkeeping, payroll, advisory, and tax services

  • Preparing and filing T2 corporate tax returns and related CRA submissions

  • Communicating with clients regarding services, appointments, deadlines, billing, and compliance matters (including SMS messages where consent has been provided)

  • Meeting legal, regulatory, and professional obligations

  • Maintaining internal records and improving service delivery


5. Consent

We obtain consent for the collection, use, and disclosure of personal information through client engagement letters, service agreements, onboarding forms, and ongoing communications.

  • Express consent is obtained where required, particularly for sensitive personal information.

  • Implied consent may be relied upon where personal information is provided voluntarily for obvious and reasonable purposes related to professional services.

  • Consent may be withdrawn, subject to legal, contractual, and professional obligations.


6. Disclosure of Personal Information

We do not sell personal information.

We may disclose personal information only in the following circumstances:

a) Service Providers

Personal information may be shared with trusted third-party service providers who assist us in delivering services, including secure cloud-based platforms such as 17hats and its integrated communication providers. These providers are contractually required to protect confidentiality and use the information only for authorized purposes.

b) Legal and Regulatory Requirements

We may disclose personal information where required or permitted by law, including to the Canada Revenue Agency or other regulatory authorities.

c) Business Protection

To protect our legal rights, comply with professional obligations, or respond to lawful requests.

Mobile opt-in data and SMS consent information will never be sold or shared with third parties for marketing or promotional purposes.


7. Data Security

We use reasonable administrative, technical, and physical safeguards to protect personal information against loss, theft, unauthorized access, disclosure, or misuse. Safeguards include:

  • Secure cloud storage and encryption

  • Restricted access to authorized personnel only

  • Ongoing review of security practices


8. Data Retention

We retain personal information only for as long as necessary to fulfill the purposes for which it was collected and to meet legal, regulatory, CRA, and professional record-retention requirements. When information is no longer required, it is securely destroyed or anonymized.


9. Access and Correction

Individuals have the right to request access to their personal information and to request corrections where information is inaccurate or incomplete, subject to legal and professional limitations.

10. SMS Communications

Where you have consented to receive SMS communications, we may send text messages related to appointments, services, billing, deadlines, or other business-related matters.

You may opt out of SMS communications at any time by replying “STOP” to any message.


11. Privacy Breaches

In the event of a privacy breach involving personal information that poses a real risk of significant harm, we will take reasonable steps to contain the breach and notify affected individuals and applicable regulators in accordance with BC PIPA requirements.


12. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes in our practices or legal obligations. The most current version will be available on our website or provided upon request.
